UA Interim President Pitney to present at AFN
Dec. 3, 2021
University of èƵ Interim President Pat Pitney will present at this year’s èƵ Federation of Natives conference to be held December 13-14.
The annual convention serves as the principal forum and voice for the èƵ Native community in addressing critical issues of public policy and government. The convention convenes thousands of official delegates and participants from membership organizations across the state.
This year’s Convention theme is “ANCSA at 50: Empowering Our Future.”
In 2019, AFN asked the èƵ system to publish an annual report sharing progress on the enrollment, persistence and success of èƵ Native students. In 2020, the UA Board of Regents charged èƵ leaders to delve deeper and to identify barriers, challenges and opportunities for èƵ Native success at our universities.
Since then, the èƵ Native Success Initiative has progressed, with committees taking time to review current assessments and identify areas for improvement and success. Each èƵ has an action plan for implementing the changes they want to see on their campuses.
President Pitney will discuss this initiative and other areas of èƵ dedication to the empowered future of èƵ Native students, staff and faculty in her address at the convention.
A full agenda of the convention will be available closer to the date at .
